Future as a gloss coat
Posted by out04 on Saturday, November 29, 2003 11:07 AM
I use Future to prepare for decaling. I hear that it yellows over time.
But does it yellow if you overcoat it with say, clear flat acrylic or any other
type of clear in general?

I have 15-year-old models with Future on them - no yellowing yet.

I had one model that had some yellowing from Future... but that was because I layed it on too thick and it pooled in one spot. If you apply it right you shouldn't have any problems.

Never seen it get yellow either. In fact, I think it protects many white from yellowing, which is good when you build airliners!

Future does not yellow. I have had reports from a few modelers that it had yellowed but when I interviewed them and looked into the individual yellowing it always turned out to be the underlying paint that had yellowed. The resins in light colored paints such as white and light gray will yellow under longterm exposure to sunlight. Future WILL NOT yellow.
