I think the 80s kit, the 1994 version, and the new Blackknight are essentially the same kit...with different decals, ect...a couple of minor differences. No way worth the price difference.

By the way, anyone used the Tecnik/Teknic (one has to be right) cockpit conversion for the F-14 1/32? The one that costs around $50? is it worth it?

i just bought the 1994 version , anyway im not sure what the difference with the new one but price is really far off. However the 1994 is cheaper so i stick to it and buy some eduard photo etch to made up of what it lacks of.
Hmmm hobby japan did mentioned something on the difference need to read on it first
hope they improve the cockpit in the new one

According to FSM Feb 2003 issue the 1994 reissue only had different decals, instructions and box art then the orginal. I have the orginal and execpt for the cockpit being crappy it's an impressive model. The newer version seems to be a Bombcat. At least in the pictures from Squadron it's carring LBG's. If the newer one corrects the cockpit, added bombs, and fixed the scribing for the rear of the aircraft it'll be worth the extra money.

everything that I've read says that all they do is add new sprues to the old tool.

I remember a similar thread a few months ago.
Someone commented that the new F14 had a mix of recessed and raised panel lines.

As far as I know...they are not the same kit...Tamiya supposedly did some re-tooling as well as a few add ons...the older version had raised panel lines I believe....could be wrong though just ask your LHS guys they should know

Guys, a hobby shop up here has both the 1994 version of this kit as well as the latest version. What's the difference? The price difference is quite significant and I was wondering if they were the same or what. Thanks.
