I think almost all long time modelers goes through this stage when you feel burned out on modeling. This was discussed in the July 1998FSM editorial and was described as modeling rut or AMS ( Advanced Modeler's Syndrome). To remedy this, the suggestion was to build something different and something simpler and easier than what's regularly worked on. The idea is rediscovering the FUN in the hobby during the time when you didn't know much about techniques or research and not stressed by high modeling standards (whether self-imposed or after-effect of seeing museum quality models). This works! One time I've been in this modeling rut, I grab an old Airfix 1/72 P-40E and built it in one sitting, no painting, just glued the parts together like when I built my first kit. It made me feel better and within that month I was able to finish my Heller P-47N and Academy P-47D bubbletop SOB.

I could say that it looks great, but I'd be lying. It looks like a build. That's all, just a build. Oh, and be sure to get those really bad brushstrokes to show through the finish, ok? Those always impress the ladies.

With all my various projects I have going on...I was getting bogged down and burnt out since my return to the hobby in late September after a 4yr abscence...
I built this kit as a kid...KISS. The simplicity of this kit is great for a motivational build which is just what I needed! You wont find any fancy AM decals or anything on this plane...no sir! I decided to build this one like I did when I was a kid...With the exception of using Testors Tube Glue!Evil [}:)]
This plane is plain!...Not even the right color. But neither was the one I built as a kid! LOL I decided to brush paint it just like I did back then...yupp looks great if I do say so myself. I only have 1 photo of it right now...and its crappy at best as I took it with a P&S 35MM...But I will have more pics coming later this weekend with the AE5...so stay tuned. Plane is built with the exception of decals...I may add some weathering to it later down the road after it collects some dust from display....
