Bought the Special Hobby kit last weekend.
Lovely kit!
Neat crisp recessed panel detail, resin seats, intakes, exhausts and aerials.
Comes with an etched metal set and decals for 4 different a/c from Falklands/Malvinas War. Two are in camo schemes, and two in all over Aluminium.
a/c serials A-511, A-520, A-549 and A-568 supplied.
Not sure that the schemes for A-511 or A-549 are correct though, as Humbrol 122 (Light Green?) is quoted for both, although I can find no reference to this shade in the Humbrol Colour System Handbook.
Thankfully, an FS number is also provided (FS35622), which is available in the Lifecolor range of acrylics. Closest match to that I can find in Humbrol is 90 (Matt Beige Green).
Worst of all is the fact that these colours bear no resemblance to the box artwork of A-511, which shows much darker shades than those suggested (For the green or the light brown).
Artwork of A-549 in the July 2002 issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling shows the lighter colours.
If anyone out there knows better, I'd appreciate some hints!
Potentially, it would also be possible to use these decals to model A-509 (Strafed by Sea Harriers at Port Stanley), A-526 (Another natural metal machine abandoned at Port Stanley) or A-529 ('Immobilised' by the SAS in the raid on Pebble Island 15/05/1982).
Choices, choices!
As ever, it's in the queue!
Cheers,
Rob M.
