Hasegawa nubs and nuisances
Posted by nsclcctl on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 7:29 AM
What are all these things on the Hasegawa sprues. Little round nubs on every piece, even the tinest pieces have these things on them which if you are not careful when you are trimming, you lose the part. I have not seen anything this pronounced before. I am referring to the 1:48 Kate I am building.

I would imagine that you are talking about air evacuation holes in the mold that allow the plastic to flow into the small part's mold cavity. It lessens the chance of a part being "short-shotted."

I agree that Hasegawa seems to use this mold technique more than most manufacturers but you will find some of this on most kits. Just adds to the enjoyment, right?

Ever lost some on the carpet and find them later when you are walking around bare footed? That is the only reason I can see why they are there.
