Calling all Canadians: Need CF-100 and CF-105 info
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 5, 2003 5:51 PM
I'm putting together proposals for future "History You Can Model" articles. There was some discussion here in the Forum a while back caused by the new (?) Hobbycraft Canada 1/48 CF-105 kit, and I'm thinking the Arrow might make for an interesting article. The CF-100 Canuck might be good if we want something about an operational Canadian A/C.

The sticking point is getting the rights to a photo of either aircraft to run with the article. Can anybody point me toward a potential photo source?

Here's a couple of people/places you might want to contact ...
National Aviation Museum, Ottawa
Western Canada Aviation Museum, Winnipeg
Canadian Warplane Heritage, Hamilton
Larry Milberry (noted author on RCAF/CF/aircraft subjects).

The museums can be reached through their web sites; Larry through his publisher, CANAV Books, if Google doesn't turn him up. I know all these museums have the CF-100 and/or Arrow parts as well as extensive photo archives, as well as access to historians.

I can't help you too much with the Arrow pics, but I have a couple of photos of a CF-100 that I took a few years ago at a museum.

You may or may not be able to use them based on their quality, but if you are at all interested, let me know and I'll dig them out and send them to you and you can feel free to use them if you can.

The "Clunk" in my pictures is a fairly complete example (its missing its engines) but it shows the overal shape of the aircraft quite well and has some squadron markings on it.
