Buddha,
In the current issue of Combat Aircraft, subtitle- (The International Journal Of Military Aviation) there is a good article about the F-104s in Southeast Asia (SEA or Viet Nam). The earliest aircraft deployed to Nam were natural metal (about Dec. 1965). Aircraft deployed to Southeast Asia later (late 66 - early 67) were painted in Southeast Asian camo colors.
All of the photos I have seen of F-104s deployed to SEA have been C (Charlie) models with an air ro air refueling probe added. The camoflage was standard SEA colors dark green, medium green, and tan on top with a light gray bottom. Testors Model Master paints has the correct Federal Standard (FS) paint number colors. The numbers just will not come to mind right now!
If you come accross some G (Gulf) models in SEA camoflage please let us know about it. "The Missel with the man in it", ya gotta love it! rangerj
