Experimenting with Stereo Graphics

Man! My eyes are bad enuff, can't even see 1/48 cockpits anymore. Then you go and do this and I'm stupid enuff to go and do what you ask!

I had a hard enough time with SIRD's

Very cool. I used to love those books that looked like random noise when you cross your eyes you see 3-D shapes. I actually bought software to make those. I think you'll find most people will find it nearly impossible to see the effect though. I use to do it all the time so it's easy for me. Do you have a mount with two cameras or are you taking two shots? Also you might find it better to use less compression when saving the JPG. Again, cool.

Man, now my eyes are all screwed up! I used to be able to see these things, but now i can't... what's it supposed to be?

shrikes: It makes the center image appear in 3D.

plum: I've seen the two-lensed camera's used in making 3D images, but this was just a picture I had collected over the years which I copied and placed side by side in an image frame, then manually 3D'd it by using PhotoSuite to move the closest objects slightly to the right, in the image on the right.

Not only am I into modeling, but I also enjoy painting Aviation related pictures, and use the stereo graphic technique to see what part of my painting that needs to be altered to create a 3D affect, basically, so they won't look like a flat picture. Below are a couple samples of this:

I've yet to see anything in those 3D pictures nomatter how long I stare. Maybe it has something to do with wearing corrective lenses for fourty years?

Great job. I've several books of stereograms and have always enjoyed them. I also went to see an exhibit of stereo photography at the Smithsonian. They had special viewer there for people who couldn't see the image conventionally. I don't really need the viewer, as I have long experience at these images. Salvador Dali used to experiment with painting two canvases almost exactly alike to produce this effect as well. Good job Frank, thanks for posting that.

I too, have always been fascinated by the affects that can be achieved by manipulating pictures on the computer, but didn't realize some have trouble seeing the center image, sorry.

Great paintings of the "Birds of Prey"! You are truly talented! I guess someone who had to use both feet, both hands, talk concisely on the radio all under "stess" while keeping an aircarft under control should be able to paint too!
