need help with i.d.

I remember as a kid building a plane, but can't remember what it was, I thought it was a flying fortress, maybe it was, but I can't seem to locate any pictures of what I remember. This plane had a nose gun like the p-17 and top and belly guns but I think it had a tail gun like the nose gun, those turrett bubble type guns. well anyway if anyone knows what I'm talking about that would be great, if you have a like to a picture or something that would be appreciated as well, thanks.

Sounds like a late model B-24 maybe. The power nose and tail turrent were very similar. The B-24 has twin tails.

How about the Lancaster? Do you remember the nationality of the aircraft?

Lancasters didn't have belly guns as near as I can recall. with the exception of Liberators and Hampdens, I don't think the British really prescribed to belly guns on their aircraft.

Definitely the B-17 itself or a late model Liberator sound about right.

Unless it had the Cheyenne tail gun, I doubt that it was a B-17G. And I don't recall anyone doing the Cheyenne in kit form. Conversion, yes. Kit, no.
Definitely sounds more like a B-24J. My 2 cents [2c]

While I agree the RAF didn't take to belly guns whole sale, a lot of Lancs and some Hallys did carry them, in what they termed the 'ventral' position.

Kevin - Here's a quick suggestion. Try going to a model suppliers website such as www.greatmodels.com , or www.squadron.com , and do a search for the various aircraft listed on the above posts. You can view the available models and usually with pictures of the kit. Maybe you'll see something that you recognize.

You might also try doing a search on the web for specific aircraft or just World War 2 bombers and see what you come up with.
