Hey people- I need help finding a kit
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, December 16, 2003 11:56 AM
Around 1994/95 back when I was in grade school Fujimi came out with an aircraft set that included their 1/48 F6F Hellcat and A6M Zero. I thought it was the coolest thing I'd seen, and wanted one for Christmas so bad. Never did get one though and now I thought if I could find one I'd buy myself a Christmas present! I know that the Hellcat isn't the greatest but I enjoy fixing up old kits. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

have you tried Hobby Link Japan? They carry Fujimi kits and are probably a cheaper source than anyone here in the US.

Hi Reb,

Back when I was in grade school, model airplanes came with the pilot figures/cockpit section, already molded into the fuselage. ie: Hawk kits.... and every airplane model came with a complimentary display stand. Smile [:)]

Oh yeah, the topic: Here's some places you can look:

http://www.happyhobby.com/hobb_html/fujimi.htm.... About 3/4ths down the page: Stock No. 6211035509
1/48 ZERO VS HELLCAT
29.98

Here's a place out of Argentina that has the kit:
http://www.interserver.com.ar/host/hobelgrano/

Also look here:
http://www.gravesmodelguide.com/aircraft/AirKitProfile.htm?AirId=16298

This "orda" be enough to keep you busy for a while.. Wink [;)]

Good luck!
Frank

Hey rebel99,
No info on the kit but I see you live in Moore. I am down here in Blanchard. Are you AD Air Force or DOD civilian?

Hey thanks for all the links! I was in the sixth grade back then, and I'm 20 now. It's funny- I found the happyhobby.com site later yesterday and am going to try to order it from them today, so we'll see how that goes. I'm a civilian DOD employee out at Tinker AFB. I work in the sheetmetal backshop for the B-52. It's an interesting aircraft to work on. Thanks for the help, and if you have any others please post them just in case happyhobby doesn't work.

No luck on e-bay with the combo. Is it a good way to buy models? I'm registered (as hellcatace1), but am a little reluctant to buy anything. Wroper- I guess it is a small world! I'm in Bldg. 2121 off of 59th St. and Douglas. I've never gotten to see the inside of 3001. Some day I want to go over there and take a look at the -135 line. Everybody else in my class says that it's an impressive place to work at. I would love to be able to hook people up with reference photos of the B-52 but I don't think I can. They just said we can't have cameras out there, so I don't know if I could even get special permission. Sucks I know. Means no reference pics even for my own use! I'll keep you all posted on whether or not that one hobby shop can send my model. Later!

I have a one up on the other young 'uns here... i was freshman highschool then! Tongue [:P]
Is this one of those 2-in-1 kits? I got one as a kid... 1/32 Israeli F-16 and an Iranian MiG-21... what could be better than getting 2 planes in the same box? sadly, i wasn't introduced to paint then, and i screwed them up. i had fun with mock dogfights though... F-16 would always win. (saw iron eagle one too many times) Smile [:)]

Rebel99, I've bought and sold a bunch of models on eBay and have had good luck for the most part. If you decide to buy, ask questions before bidding about the condition of the kit. If the seller doesn't respond or is vague, don't bid.

I searched for the model that you're seeking with no luck other than those links that have been given. Sorry I couldn't help, but did want to give a bit of advice on eBay.

Gradeschool in 1994-95?! I've got socks that are older than that!

I don't plan on going to college. too expensive. besides, all the jobs around here don't need it. I'll probably end up working at one of the 2 farm dealerships out my back door. they send you to courses for about a month and a half a year, for 4 years and then you got your J.M. (journeyman mechanic or something else if your in parts, I don't know what its called)

Well, I tried Happy Hobby... the lady that worked there didn't seem to umm.. happy. She said that that kit wasn't in their computer and that they hadn't carried it in years. She seemed mad that I was trying to order something that their web site says they have but don't. She said that she didn't know why it is still listed on the web page but assured me that it would be removed. Boy, o.k.. My bad. Ebay had two Testos (Fujimi kit re-boxed) for a collective sum of $8.00, so I'm trying on those. It's my first Ebay bid so I hope it works well. For those who asked, it was two airplanes in one box- the F6F-5 and A6M-2 and was called "Zero VS Hellcat. I built the Fujimi model once (my first 1/48 Hellcat) and wanted to do it again and make it look really nice. It may sound stupid, but I like taking some of those old kits that don't come with much and adding detail to them. It's a break from the usual Hasegawa or Tamiya. It seems as though it was just yesterday I was in Junior high wishing I was working on airplanes, and now look at me- a BUFF mechanic. One year of college and a year and a half of A&P school makes high school seem so far back... My advice to the younger charges here: enjoy high school and have as much fun there as you can. It will go by very fast, trust me on this one. Thanks for all your help!
