Bf 109 production line starts here. (Pics)

Here are two Bf109 kits I have recently finished. The first is the 1:32 scale Hasegawa G-14 marked in the distempered winter white with the markings of none other then Ace of aces Erich Hartmann.

Most of the markings were painted on.

Some minor details such as antenneas and pitot tube were left off so the aircraft could be shipped to the US.

The second is the 1:48th G-14 in the colours and markings of "Black 8" 10./JG4 Pilot: Oblt. Rolf Schlegal, I updated the cockpit with the Eduard Zoom detail set, resin weighted wheels by True Details, Eagle Cals decals. Both kits were painted using a combination of Gunze and Tamiya Acrylics and matted coated with Tamiya Flat Base mixed with Pascoes Long Life which is like Future here in Australia.

I agree. Hartmanns plane is a very beautiful aircraft. Very nicely done on both.

hey they are some GREAT looking warbirds you got there!!Smile [:)]Smile [:)]Smile [:)]

a quick question by the way:
regarding the winter camo, i have a superscale decal set for my fw-190 a-4 (jg 54) showing a similar white/distemper on the fuselage but the wings remain with normal camo?
does this sound right?
here's the link if anyone cares to look...

Spent 23 yrs. in Rickover's Nuclear Navy. Picture makes me homesick. Not! Anthony:
Wonder about the Tulips on Erich's G-14. Did you check his Bio or picture book to see if this is accurate?

John, I used Eagle Editions Information, which have some black and white photos as well as colour profiles of the aircraft. I tried using the decals, but the tulip would not conform to some of the raised detais on the nose, so I decided to paint my own. I used the decals as templates. This particular aircraft had more pedals then any of his other aircraft.

Anthony

From the look of the decal sheet, the camoflauged wings refer to the aircraft at the top with the tulip nose, I would think the entire upper wings would have been painted white over this pattern. You can paint the camoflaug first then white over it to give it a splotchy worn through look. Just make sure to go light with the white so that the grey show through.
Cheers,
Anthony

once again, great 109s!!Cool [8D]
