F-16C Canopy
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 18, 2003 6:05 AM
I'm in the process of building up a 1/48th F-16C and would like to coat the clear canopy with a "smoke gray" color. Has anyone successfully done this? If so, what paint did you use? Any assistance would be most appreciated.

I did on my Hasagewa kit. Get some Tamiya clear acrylic paint. It comes in smoke grey, red, orange, etc. I carefully brushed mine on the inside. It looks great.

I have the Hasegawa F-16N in 1/48 and it came with two clear sprues, one that was tined grey. The wrong color when compared to pics I've seen.

Hey DickMcC;
here is a way to do the painting with out leaving brush marks, First off do you have a Airbrush?, if you do then this is the easy part mix Tamiya's clear acrylic paint into Future floor wax about say 10 drops to the Future mixed with diluted water in the cup, then shoot the canopy new color on the inside; if its to light, wait a day then hit it with a second coat, if to dark; then a little soap & water and start over again but go with less paint in the cup,
if you DO NOT have an airbrush then this is a little different: mix the the paint with NON diluted Future and about 4 to 5 drops of color though not 10 and the same for the tent
