Throughout its service life, the 109 was constantly evolving. The main differences between the variants of which you speak are armament, engine, canopy, and tail. The Hartmann "versions" are most likely markings. To learn more about the differences, a great on-line source is the "109 Lair." I don't know the link off-hand, but a search will most probably locate the site.
I've been doing some serious looking at the plethora of new 1/32 kits that are now available. They DEFINATELY aren't the 1/32 kits that I knew from the sixties. I will most probably get Hasegawa's Bf 109G-6 and FW 190D-9. From what I've seen and read, these are stellar kits.

ME109 VERSIONS?
Posted by mgtaylor on Friday, December 19, 2003 10:25 PM
I've been updateing my new wishlist in anticapation of building a limited 1/32 scale WW II line. Being a huge IL2 FOrgotton Battle ACE I must plan to have a ME109 and 190 project. Iam partial to the early 190's as opposed to the 190D but I might do both? THe problem is Iam not up on the ME 109 versions. I mean Me109G -4? Me109G-6? Me-109G-14? Their are even hartmann versions in both -6 and -14? Iam confused Spanky? I've pretty much settled in on the Hasegawa line but I've mentioned the several versions? Aftermarket detail addtions to enhance the kit will probably bethe deciding factor for me but again theres several for all these versions available? AHHH! Help?
