Aurora 1/27 Mustang?
Posted by J-Hulk on Saturday, December 20, 2003 10:19 AM
Howdy, folks!
I stopped in at an LHS that specializes in old kits, and saw something (well, many things, actually) that I'd not seen before: a 1/27 P-51 Mustang by Aurora. Also, it was a screw-together kit, no glue required. It was only 4,000 yen ($36 USD) so I don't suppose it's super-collectable.
Anybody know anything about this kit?

I had forgotten all about that kit! I had one many moons ago. I remember having to screw it together. You didn't happen to see a manufacture date on this, did you?

Howdy J-Hulk, The kit you are talking about is from Aurora's "Giant Size" series. Those kits were issued in the early 60's thru the 70's. The price guide has that kit at $50 USD. The one from that series I always wanted was the 1/32 B-25! Wink [;)]

Howdy, guys!
I didn't notice a date on the box.
They had a 1/32 B-25?? Yikes! At the shop they did have another screw-together kit...a 1/19 "British Scout Plane," or something like that.

I can imagine the answer, but how was the detail on these big old kits?

Yeah, mid 60's is right. I would have been the right age. So far as detail, I remember it being a cool toy!

They have poor detail but the shapes looked ok. If anyone is interested I'll post a list of all the "Giant Size" kits.
