Work begins on the Pedro
Posted by Swanny on Friday, December 26, 2003 4:06 PM
After two days of slicing up the base kit and cleaning up resin I finally got to do some building.
First is a collection of the interior parts progression

and a close-up of where the kit gondola will be removed...

and here is a close-up of the cockpit area so far ...

Swanny, it's beyond me how you're able to do so much really good quality work so fast. I wish I could model that fast and well at the same time.

On the other hand, I do an awful lot of fine detail work at, erm, work. I'm under enough constant deadline pressure there that I might just as well take my time at home.

It's not so much a hobby as it is a compulsion I suppose.

Anyway, really truly excellent job you do sir! I'm envious.

Why is it called a pedro? Does it have to do with the Spanish civil war?

I have no idea why it's called a Pedro but the one I'm doing is from the Spanish Civil War. I'll do some research on that point.

It probably is just a codename to do with the Spanish Civil War.

If you look at BF-109 code names you'll see certain patterns along that line.

109 E (Emil)
109 G (Gustaf)

The FW-190D was known as "Dora"

So, I can't imagine "Pedro" is anything outside that same naming strategy, just a Spanish name for the sake of the theatre of operations.
