Spirit of St. Louis RAYN NYP or ELECTRA L-10-E

The SPIRIT of St. Louis RAYAN NYP, The ground breaking Ford 4-AT TRIMOTOR and Amelia Earhart's BEAUTIFUL Electra L-10-E ......Tell me....Why on GODs green Earth...Why these Historical and Awesome Aircraft have NOT! been done in 'styrene' in 1/48 or larger scale? For crying out loud! I have seen a simple Cesna 170 or a Beachcraft in larger scales.
Is it me or is it that these IMPORTANT birds have been over looked? DANG!

for the same reason that you see 10,000 mustang kits and NO wright brothers in 1/72nd scale... had to scratch mine, took six months

I thought Hawk had a 1:48 Spirit of St. Louis... didn't Testors re-release it a while back?

I know I've seen a Spirit of St. Louis somewhere out there, but it wasn't recently.
I'd like to see an Electra, too.

some more kits there are millions of: spitfire, f4 phantom, f4 corsair, fw190(a AND d).

but there were few/no ta 152C-0 or ACCURATE mig 15(trumpeters and tamiyas 1/48 have some errors, and trumpeters 1/32 has almost as many errors but very good clear parts...)

Monogram recentlty re-released the Wright flyer which is in approximately 1/48 scale. Glencoe models released the Spirit od St. Louis a couple years back, I beleive it is the old Hawk kit. And there is a lockheed Electra available at Squadron in 1/48 scale, although I don't recall the manufacturer. The Wright kit is quite good. The Spirit is a decent representation but lacks detail, and i have not yet seen the Electra in person. But yes some beter detailed and in the case of the Electra less expensive kits should be available.

Testors still has the Spirit of St louis is 1/48 scale in its inventory. Frog had one years ago in 1/72 scale (I still have that one!). The Electra is around at Squadron and, I think, GreatModels too. The Monogram Wright Flyer kit still turns up at model shows and eBay, and still lurks on the shelves of some hobby shops. :)

I checked out Squadron and the only thing I found on Electra was some decals in 1/48.....Did I goof up?

I have built the 1/72nd scale Testors kit... basic but very servicable... when finished, looks really good in the case....

Here it is! I knew I saw it somewhere. 1/53 scale by Willaims Brothers, available at Tower Hobbies for $23.99. Here is the link.

The Glencoe reissue is 1/48th by my calculation but is lacking in detail. I started one and added much from scratch. I have had the project on the back burner for sometime because I got stuck on how to best duplicate the tooling of the engine nacelle sheet metal. This was done to hide the marks left by the metalworker's hammer but I have not been able to create it effectivly in 1/48th scale. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
