For all Lancaster fans

I was in Canberra over Christmas and on Boxing Day went to the Australian War Memorial (AWM) to have a look at G for George.
The restoration is magnificent and the Sound and Light display of a raid on Berlin is spine tingleing!
For all those who have been wondereing about the circular "thinngy" just aft of the bomb bay it appears to be an sscape hatch. It seems too small to have been intended for a ventral turret. Just a bit further aft of the hatch are three lights along the centerline red and two amber I think. I will be going back in about three months and will get detail photos then.
If there are any questions that need answering ask and i will try and find out.

Hello Dai:
My Lancaster references seem to indicate the round thingy is in fact for a ventral turret; an escape hatch in that area would mean any one jumping would likely hit the tail wheel, and the main entry door is nearby. The ventral turret is quite small, not at all like the US ball turret.
The three lights are identification lights that were flashed to persons on the ground. My references do not mention colours.
It is going to be great to see another completed Lanc soon.
Happy New Year,
Bruce

Alternatively, could it possibly be for an H2S installation?
Gentlemen! You can't fight in here; this is the WAR ROOM!

... H2S would indeed be another possibility ...
