Sentimental Journey
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 28, 2003 12:26 PM
Well, I hope everyone's holidays are going good? Mine is, more or less. I received the model that I wanted, a B-17G. Now the fun part begins.

I am looking for decals for the Sentimental Journey of the CAF Arizona Wing. So far no luck. I can't even find a good enough picture to scan in and copy.

I've looked through Aeromaster and Eagle Strike decals, plus I've also looked through Flightdecs' list. I even looked through the CAF's gift shop. All no luck.

Is there even such a thing as decals for this old gal?

I hope you all have Happy Holidays!

I'm pretty sure that there's a decal sheet for sentimental journey out there. Why not try and re-post this topic in the decal forums and see what you turn up there. You may want to try and e-mail someone at the CAF webpage to see if you can get good pics or maybe even the decals themselves... BTW, what scale is your B-17 in? Smile [:)]

Thanks for the help folks.

The 17 is 1:48, Revell's kit. I am loking also at detailing her out from stuff from Verlinden. But, I am not sure how much that is going to run. We'll wait and see.

You can find the decals for the Sentimental Journey of the CAF Arizona Wing at http://www.arizonawingcaf.org/azcafcgi/hazel.exe
Oh and they are $2.00. It does not say what scale they are.

The decal sold by the CAF is a window decal for a car, not a set of decals for scale model aircraft.

I found the car sticker form CAF as well. I just sent the CAF a e-mail asking about whether or not their available. If not, plan B. "Just Plane Lonesome," I guess.

Thanks for your info.

Hiya Carter1,
Great subject to build. I worked on the real plane for about 2 yrs when I lived in Mesa Az in the late 80's. I might have some pics or pamphlets that might have some decent shots. If your interested, shoot me an email at willybill38@hotmail.com and Ill see what I can find.

I have done alot of looking for -17 stuff in 48 scale. your decal choices are limited. I finally decided to do mine in an actual bomb squadron, but a fictional airplanee, and hand paint the nose art (gonna name it after my daughter)

as for after market stuff, go to squadron.com, they have all the cool aftermarket stuff. I just got my wheels and cockpit sets #1 and #2, and the walk around book. i think it came up to about $40.00 for that stuff. the photo etch stuff from virlidin is about $20.00 a set, they have three at squadron, and the upgrade kit is about $32.00.

i hope you enjoy the kit, i just started fiddling with mine today and have found a few things that confuse me, and im a bit nervous too (first time scratch building and cutting up a $40.00 kit...oh well guess i have to learn sometime

enjoy, and hope this helped
