You try flattening and bulging a vinyl tyre!

Have just replaced the vinyl jobs on my 262 with resin, much nicer, pre flattened, prebulged.

One eats the plastic, the other drys and splits - it's a no win situation either way. In many cases the tires are far from accurate anyway. The resin tires are usually very well researched and will not give you any crap down the road. I strongly recommend spending the 2 bucks for the replacements and not have to worry about what you may find next time the wife makes you dust the model shelves.

Thanks for the words of "wisdom"! I'll avoid vinyl tires at all costs! Some of the tires appear to be actual rubber in some kits. Are these just as bad about melting the styrene plastic and spliting?

When they first came out I thought they were great. Then after putting maximum effort into making a nice model and putting it on display I come back to see this ....

Admittedly it took a few years for this to happen but it's not just one tire, it's every freaking vinyl tire in my collection plus when I got my Tigercat the tires had moved up against some plastic in the box (the fuselage) and ate a chunk out of it! Yes, I'm just a little bit against vinyl tires.

Vinyl Tires

What is the trick to keep vinyl tires from melting the plastic hubs. I have an old 1/24th scale Mustang that has vinyl tires that melted the hubs. I just got the new Hobby Craft 1/32nd F4F-4 and I see it has vinyl tires. I bought resin tires for the Ertl F7F Tigercat. I thought I heard of someone coating the contact area of the hubs with super glue then placing the tire on it after it dries. Thanks in advance!
