While rugby is pretty rough, the size and stregnth and speed of American Football players would make most rugby players totally uncompetitive at it. The pads are necessare to prevent very serious injuries, and they only work half the time. Concussions are still frequent, as are broken noses and poked eyes smashed and split chins. I won't even get into broken ribs, hands, thumbs, fingers, toes and legs. The hits are so hard that combined with the high speeds, destroyed knees are common. Don't be fooled by the pads, they are the only thing that makes it possible to play the game, otherwise the average career legnth would be 3 games rather than 3 years. Rugby is tough, but American football is at the very least just as tough, I promise. As for why it's called Football and not something else, that's always been beyond me, Soccer is the true Football. Why is Cricket called Cricket, I've never seen an insect play.
OU is going to whup up on LSU in a bad way. Wait until you see the man really run up the score and not hold back for a change!
