LHS got it wrong!(P/E question)
Posted by HSteve on Saturday, January 16, 2010 4:20 PM

Well, I put in a special order last week for a Eduard detail set for the 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109E-4/7, and picked it up this afternoon...

When I got home, I realized the set I recv'd is for the  Hasegawa kit...Oops

I was wondering if I could still use it for the Tamiya, maybe foregoing a few parts that obviously don't work...I'm focusing on the exterior details more than the C/P...

Any thoughts?

You may have to modify it a little bit to fit. I don't know for sure though.

That's what I figured...

I've done a comparison between the two sets, but it's hard to tell how big the differences are with the photos Eduard has on their site...The Tamiya set has an extra fret of parts, but other than that, I just don't know...Confused

I would ask the LHS to order you the correct one if in fact they ordered the wrong one. Maybe someone transposed a number. As long as you haven't started cutting off parts they should be able to resell it.

Hi, Hawkeye, again, Congrats on 3,000!

I'm really itching to get started  on the model - I'd rather not wait another 10 days for a replacement...

I've already worked on the cockpit, and I guess I'll give it a try anyway...

BTW -

I'm trying p/e for the first time - should I prime the parts before brush painting w/  MM Acryl colors?

Mate,

I've yet to find a resin detail set or a PE set that can't be adapted to another kit.  You might have to put your thinking cap on and use a little creativity, but if it's advertised as made for the Hasegawa kit, you still should be able to use it for the Tamiya kit.

Besides, it's Eduard...just about the best stuff around...

Cheers, LeeTree
