don't dilute the future. Shoot it straight from the bottle.

I have never tried using Future as a top coat, what's the dilution rate of Future to thinner when using an airbrush? And what would be the best thinner?

No authority here either, but it once happened to me and I'm pretty sure my problem is I tend to not take enough time between coats and I sprayed a little too heavy on my initial coats of Future. Best idea is the old advice of light coats built up over time.

Shamba, I just clear coated dullcote lacquer over future with no problems. Did you have a lot of thinner in your final topcoat? Or did you perhaps put down heavy wet on wet coats? BT

Future IS acrylic so I don't see how it is more rigid than other acrylics and even if it were I question what would cause it to "move" in the first place unless someone was literally bending the plastic parts. Wink [;)]
As I have said before it is common for people to airbrush murals on cars with water based acrylics and then clear coat them with hard, urethane clears and there are no cracks.
I think the reason they say don't put enamels over acrylics is because the solvent based paint can attack an acrylic paint that is usually water based if applied incorrectly over it.
It sounds to me like an adverse reaction of the Gunze paint with the Future.

Maybe Swanny can shed some insight into this unfortunate incident.

Problem with Future

Hi:

I seem to have hit a snag using Future. I painted my model with Gunze acrylics. I had let the paint cure for a while (different colors were painted at different times, the minimum amount that the paint had cured was two days) I then applied Future as my gloss coat for decaling. I let the Future cure for a couple of days. I then applied my decals and then put another Future top coat as the sealant. I let the Future dry over night and then decided to shoot Acryl Flat on top of that. As I shot the Flat coat I noticed cracks in the Future. At first I thought it was a reaction between Future and the flat coat but when I looked at areas that did not have flat coat on them they were also cracked! What has gone wrong? I thought I had let the paint cure long enough (about a month from the first paint application to the last flat coat) so why do I see cracks?
