How's your 2003 report
Posted by Anthony on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 6:06 PM
First, I'd like to say Happy New Year to all. To my colleagues in Easten Hemisphere, this may be late but Happy New Year anyway, BTW, how's the firwork and champlain there?

Did you have a good time in modeling in 2003? I completed, for 1/48: Tamiya F-4F Wildcat and Spitfire Mk1, Academy Spitfire Mk14e, and Accurate Miniature TBF Avenger and for 1/72: Academy F-84F Thunderjet, Academy P-51B Mustang and F6F Hellcat.

The Tamiya F-4F Wildcat was excellent and the Spitfire Mk1 was also impressive. Academy 1/48 Spitfire is packed with great detail. The 1/72s ones are also good, although not without problems(fitting mainly), they are still easily to overcome.

Well, hope your 2004 modeling will be even more enjoyable.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Anthony! I for one am glad the New Year is here, 2003 was a problem year so not much modeling done. I managed 2 kits, Italeri's 1/72 F15C and Monograms Do 217. However I did join this Great Forum so the year wasn't a total loss.

Happy New Year to everyone as well!

My fleet grew from 7/8 of a plane to 13-1/8 total this year. Last November I popped the cherry on the rebirth of my modelling hobby by building Monogram's 1977 B-29 1/48 scale kit. Went with Thumper rather than Enola Gay or Bockscar. Everyone does those.Sigh [sigh] Sleepy [|)]
So below is the list of Captain [4:-)] Quagmyre's 1/48 scale US WWII fleet!

Boeing B-29 Superfortress
Vought F4U-4D Corsair
Cutiss P-36
Cutiss P-40 (Flying Tiger)
North American P-51
Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress
Grumman F4F Wildcat
Lockheed P38-J Lightning
Ryan PT-20
<-- fav - impartial to the name of the manufacturer Big Smile [:D]
Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina
Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat
Brewster F2A-3 Buffalo
Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless

...and I'm currently assembling a North American B-25 Mitchell! Not a Dolittle Raider. Haven't decided what decals or scheme I'm gonna go with yet. Seems to be a lot of cool options for the B-25.

Pics will be provided as soon as the website is presentable!

Up next in 2004. Probably gonna finish the Carrier based planes before heading back into Europe, the Pacific, or Training and Experimental Planes. Here' my Carrier based 1/48 stock:
TBF/TBM Avenger
FM2 Wildcat
TBD Devastator
F7F Tigercat
F8F Bearcat
SB2C Helldiver
SBC Helldiver
SB2U Vindicator
(on order)

Should be a productive 2004! Smile [:)]

Current and Subsequent Projects:
1/48 scale Tamiya P-47 "Razorback" - Complete
1/48 scale Testors/Lone Star Models PT-22 Recruit - 20% Complete
1/48 scale Monogram C-47 Skytrain - Not Started

After just about 5 years of building solely for other people, 2003, thabks to those Forums, gave me what it took to say 'hold on' and build models for my only pleasure again... I only completed one aircraft, Revell's 1/144 Dassault Rafale, but 2004 will undoubtely see more coming out of the DJ production lines, starting with Concorde.

So, for me a very important year, 2003 was. Thank you everyone here for making it possible!

I completed my very first two models! They are: (drum roll..!)

Eduard's 1/72 Fokker Dr.1
Revell's 1/144 Lockheed/Martin X-35B

And started no less than 3 others.. (although one belongs to the Dark Side..! HeHeHe..!)
