Ilyushin Il-76 Candid (Pic)

Here's a model I'm just about to complete now...

The kit is Trumpeter's, scaled at 1/144. It's a really beautiful kit. I hope they'll do more big Soviet/Russian planes at that scale. It's still manageable..! Big Smile [:D]

The wheels, and the wings are already painted/decaled, as are the engine/pylon units. I just need to weather the separate bits a little before final assembly..

Big Smile [:D]

dj have you had any fit problems with Trumpeter...I was looking at their F-107 in 1/72 but the review on the new F-105 didn't sound that great fit wise...then again as I've heard said on this sight...If you listen to all of the inadequicies of kits we wouldn't ever build anything.

Adam, no problem at all with this kit! The only 'problem' with it is not a question of fit but just that the lips of the engine intakes are too thick. Nothing that a knife and sandpaper can not fix.

This is only the second Trumpeter kit I'm completing, the first one being a 1/72 truck. So far, I'm impressed with the quality...

Very nicely done so far, Dj. Keep the pics coming, please.

I prefer 1/200 for heavies. Ive just never gotten around to building something else after my old C-141B. Sigh.

I too prefer 1/200 Allan, but the choice is very limited...! Sad [:(] This Il-76 is still manageable in terms of size and will still fit into my display cabinet.

A 1/200 B747 is limit...! So, even in 1/200, there're won't be a A380 for me...
