enthusiastic ditto on the tamiya kit AND the ultracast parts! you might want to cough up an extra 8 or 9 bucks for the eduard color zoom set for this bird. adds some very nice detail.

Vinman,
You can also purchase the right size of seat, exhaust pipes, and propeller blades with spinner at www.ultracast.com, trust me, those products are more accurate if you want a realistic look of your aircraft.

modelaces,
I went to ultracast.com I can't seem to find where they offer parts for a 1/48 bf109?

Vinman,

Purchase the 1/48 Tamiya Bf109E-3, its a great kit with great fitting, but remember, do not remove the seam on top and bottom of the fuselage, it existed on real aircrafts so do not remove it. You can also purchase the right size of seat, exhaust pipes, and propeller blades with spinner at www.ultracast.com, trust me, those products are more accurate if you want a realistic look of your aircraft.

Can anyone recommend a decent on-line retailer?

Yes, both are great kits as mentioned above by Pix. The Tamiya kit does have just a tad more engraved detail on the top and bottom wing surfaces.

I prefer the Hasegawa kit, but the Tamiya is also nice. Both allow you to drop the slats & flaps. I think the Hasegawa nose looks a little more acurately shaped than the Tamiya. Either one is a good choice, though.
