B26 kits

Hi Pest18, i have only done the airfix and matchbox marauders (and that was some years ago) and out of the two i would go for the airfix offering, revell have got most of the matchbox molds and i think that is what the revell one is.i know that airfix has had a it of a hammering in these forums lately but this isn't a bad kit from what i remember. hope this helps. I have a Monogram 1/48 kit. Haven't built it yet but it looks pretty good in the box.

I have the airfix 1/72 kit......little dog of a kit, lots of gaps and sinkholes.
I also have the Revell Germany 1/48 of this kit. Very nice. Which I think someone told me is the old monogram kit. Either way nice. RG also makes a 1/72 of the B26.

I don't think there are any others out there are there?

Now I understand that Panda is comming out with a 1/32 B17 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone will pick up the ball and run and we'll get an upsize of the B26. (Hey I can hope can't I?)

I have an old ESCI B-26 that is pretty cool. Some fit issues but the most accurate engine cowlings - trouble is to find one for yourself.

The Monogram 1:48 kit is bad, bad, bad. Goofier than a bedbug. Poorly engineered. Bad fit all around, especially canopy/windscreen to fuselage, nacelles to wings, and wings to fuselage. Heck, did I leave anything out?!?. I built it, but I can't wait to tape a cherry bomb to it, and once the Japanese decide to make a B-26 kit, I will, HA HA HA HA!!! YESSS!! KA-BOOM, BABY!!! Oh... did I say that out loud? It's a sore spot for me, because despite its reputation, the Marauder was actually a good plane. So why is it so hard to have it respectfully and properly glorified in plastic?

At the risk of starting one of the oldest debates around, which B-26 are you looking at building?

Revell /Monogram has 1/48 scale kits of both the Marting Marauder and the Douglas Invader. As many of you know, BOTH planes were known as a B-26.

Just want to be clear about the discussion.

If it's the Martin B-26 Marauder, there's still one kit not mentioned, the Monogram 1/72 Snap-tite offering. Easy build and nicely detailed for a snap-on model.

in 1/72, the best I've ever seen was the Airfix one. Lots of interior details particularly the bomb bay. I built it about 20 years ago. Pretty good, overall.

i was wanting to build the marauder version. the douglas invader was a modified version of the invader i beleive, but werent they all given the b26 designation well ive just confused myself

The B-26 Marauder and the A/B-26 Invader were two totally different aircraft.

well it depends on the scale, the Revellograms 1/48 ( the only real 26 in this scale ) & snap 1/72, and Airfix's 1/72 is the best for that scale, I'm really surprised that no-one has redone this Great Plane, A/M has done the B-25 but what happened to the Baltimore Whore it was faster, carried more, and had the best combat record of any Med. Bomber in WWII ( the A/B-26 was concidered and Attack Plane then ) but Revellogram has rehashed this kit out a few times, the best one was the Special Edition with resion cockpit & wheel bays but is very pricey on EvilBay, what Revellogram needs to do is redo there molds and change them to recessed panel lines like placing a hi-temp wire in the molds where the panel lines are think about it it'll make our jobs easier on construction
