Current Project Academy 1/32 F/A-18C
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 4:42 AM
hey everybody, just thought Id post some progress pics of my current project. Im working on Academys 1/32 F/A-18C. Itscertainly a large and beautifully detailed kit. I am adding Cutting Edges resin cockpit and a photo etch set from Lion Roar, but with the amount of detail this kit has, the sets arent necessary. They do add sore detail to the cockpit though, which was the only portion so far that needed anything extra. I have run into a few problems though with fitting, which, looking at the pictures in the FSM article, it looks like he had the same problems, but didnt mention them. I'll try and give more info later on.

I'm wanting to get this kit too but can't decide if a third party cockpit is even necessary.

That nose gear bay looks very sharp. At 1/32 your in a good position to start adding fiber optics.

Looks pretty nice your Hornet. After about 25 years of not modeling, I`m back to the family since last May now. The Hornet was my second model (first 1 was a German Truck) and I thought it was a bit of a risk, but the quality of this kit is outstanding and I finished it in 3 months. My f18 is not a contest winner, but it looks quite good out of the box. There was a lot of help in the www (look for serang kim and his Hornet). I also read the FSM and I must say had the same dificulties. But no real probs. So I´m looking forward to your progress and the next fotos. I would show some of mine, if I would know how to do it
I´m now working on a 1/48 Fury from Grand Phoenix. Thats a real challenge, but fun fun fun.
Happy modeling
Gerald
