XB-70 Valkyrie
Posted by djmodels1999 on Friday, December 20, 2002 2:20 AM
Hi,

Anyone out there who could locate for me the old Aero Series book on the Valkyrie..? I'm located in the UK, willing to buy, or trade against books, kits, mags, accessories, you name it.

If you do not want to part with the book, I could live with a very good photocopy of the fold-out line drawings at the front of the book!

Thanks,

Domi

Well, Rob T, they have a nice selection of stuff, but not what I'm after... I have all those other books but the Aero Series title has been out of print for ages..

Thanks for your time and suggestion.

The best resourse I personally have is "North American XB-70 Valkirie, a photo chronicle" by John M. Campbell. It is a Schiffer Military History book and the company can be contacted at Schiffer Publishing Ltd. 77 Lower Valley Rd., Atglen, PA 19310. The book was published in 1996, so hopefully it is still available.
Best of success building one of the most beautiful planes ever!

Domi,
Contact the Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio USA where the only existing XB-70 is on display. Their gift shop has numerous books on the XB-70 and I believe they have the Aero Book your looking for. Contact them at USAF Museum 1100 Spaatz Street Wright-Patterson AFB Dayton, Ohio USA Phone is 937-255-3286. Good Luck as I know they will help you out!

Thanks Guys... I already have the Photo Chronicle book. It is nice. Modeldude, I went to the museum and saw the beauty (it's not a beast is it!?), but that was 3 years ago, and they may have that book again, so I'll give it a try.

My problem is that I do not want to build the AMT kit because it is WAY too big for me. I purchased on e-Bay the old Aurora kit, whose size is more manageable, but the kit was designed in '62 before the Valkyrie ever flew and there are some serious mistakes in that kit, which would benefit from having that beautiful drawing that's in the Aero Series book...

Amazing stuff, even better than what was in that book. Many, many thanks! All I need now is building up the courage to tackle that old Aurora kit...
