B-52 re-release?

Looks like that won't happen. AMT (RC-2 now) holds the molds for the original kit and was going to charge AMtech too much per shot with a 5,000 minimum run. That would have put AMtech in a big hole, even before adding corrected parts, decals, instructions, boxart, advertising, marketing, distribution, shipping, etc. AMtech may still consider just producing a correction kit for those who have the original AMT kit, but won't be able to provide the base kit.

Does anyone know if the AMT kit the same as the old Monogram mold?

No the Monogram was a B-52D, and its a lot better than the AMT G/H. I've got all three in my to build stack and I have compared them many a time. My wifes' father use to work on BUFFS at Shephard AFB and he worked on all three.

Well, that sucks . I was waiting for AMtech to release that so I could build one of the B-52's I worked on. I got the Monogram D last weekend. I'm going to convert it to NASA's B-52B 52-0008.

I read somewhere that the NASA B-52B 52-0008 is both the oldest B-52 and the youngest B-52 still flying. In years it is the oldest, but in flight hours it is the youngest.
Wasn't it one of the X-15 transports? I think it still flys out of Edwards.

I recently read that and was surprised. As old an airplane as 0008 is, she does have fewer flying hours than the newer H models currently flying. Her and her sister ship, 0003 were the dropships for the X-15 and many other historic aviation projects. That's why I chose it as the airplane to model. Monogram had an X-15/B-52 combo a long time ago as part of their "Young Astronauts" series. It had all the parts to build 0008 in it, but it extremely hard to find. I recently saw on on Ebay for $125.00! I think I'll just stick with converting the D...
