                        My wife also thinks I'm nuts, so does my psyciatrist, and dozens of other people. But I know that I am the only sane person around here. I sometimes leave my room to go to work. Have to or else I would starve and most importantly not be able to buy the next kit.

                        Jokes aside, modeling is the greatest stress reliever ever concieved.

                        Yea we are nuts I mean stand back and look at what your saying. We spend a ridiculous amount of money on hunks of plastic and waste away our life's < thats how a normal non modeler looks at it. But it entertains the hell out of me and ive made some money selling built models. So who cares what other ppl think better than craps i mean crafts.Smile [:)]Smile [:)]

                        Yeah, they say that the old eyesight is the second thing to go.
                        When I returned to modelling at 38, my eyes were fine. After two years of working with magnification, I couldn't read print anymore (can you say "phonebook?") Now, at 48, I even need glasses to read text on my computer's 17" monitor. And I'm only a foot away ! I figure that by the time I get to that last model in my closet, my glasses will be so thick that they will come in contact with the model !

                        Thanks Dan,

                        Rumor has it that Panda Models will be releasing a 1/35th series of Chinooks this summer sometime, which will include an "A", "B/C", "ACH-47A", and possibly a "D" Model. Certainly those will be plenty big enough, IF Panda, in fact, comes through with their plans.

                        Skeptical? Yes, somewhat, because a couple years back, MRC had a 1/35th series announced, even went as far as completing the clay Master Molds, then canceled it in favor of yet another version of the UH-1. Sad [:(]

                        Keyworth - I used to paint little lighting bolts on the helmets of my 1/144 fighter pilots, and it's true. You will go blind. (My mother never told about that one).

                        A few years back I built a pair of IR suppressors ( plus a load test version ) for the MH 47 that was tested down at FT. Rucker. I was wondering if you knew of a good kit that would be large enough for me to do the required IR modification to the engines. ( 1/48 to ? )

                        Is better than getting nuts because of the stress at work without having something to do that we really enjoy . Modelling is definately my drug. Nº 1 in relaxing!
                        Dosent matter the detail that wont be seen, if you feel good doing it, then do it without a doubt!

                        Frank, you did that work? Amazing job on the Chinook. I rode around in a few of those on my two SE Asia tours. NIcely done.

                        This isn't aircraft, but I posted a similar thing in the sci-fi forum.
                        This woman built a 1701D Enterprise. This ship contains an Arboritum, though it would be rather small and hard to see. She detailed out this little park, and to make things even more insane, she added a Koi pond. To give the Japanese goldfish pond depth, she used layers of apoxy and dots of yellow paint. The work had to have been smaller than a dime and could not be seen from the outside unless you removed a portion of the ship to look at it.

                        of course we are for example the kit I am building right now is the Trumpeter sm79. I started with the cockpit wich I almost always scratchbuild( call it a professinal twitch in my brain since I used to work at cockpits when I worked at the Fokker aircraft factory before it went bankrupt) next I know that I also scratbuild the entire interior of the rear fuselage now that the fuselage is closed nearly half cannot be seen but I know it is there.
                        So call us modelers a fruit cake but I am happy with it and least I don´t hurt other people while I am modeling

                        Today while working on the Spitfire I am building I thought of something I caould do to help the model look better. Ths maodel is a 1/24 scale so its a good size model, amd is made to set with engine open to see and also the guns amd ammo. Any how I got to looking at the ammo belts for the guns. There are all one peice with a backing on it. more like a strip with ammo bumps on it really but nice. So I removed the backing part between links with a new sharp hobby knife. It takes me about 30 min to do one belt (sorry eyes arn't what the used to be) and it looks great! Looks like a real belt of ammo now. The wife walks in and see's what I have done, laughs and says you are nuts! (tho she did admit later it looked better that way). Any she asks me why do something like that when most people would not even know it was there? I told her cuz I know it will be there. So are we all nuts or what? Has anyone else told them they where nuts for doing something like this?

                        Ps.... My wife thinks my models look grand but I am still nuts *LOL*
