I know a couple years back, the Aerosciences museum near here was working on restoring a B-26. Last time I was there, they had assembled the fuselage and the bomb bays were in place....but it was pretty much stripped bare. Also-- I believe the museum was supposed to be restoring it for another museum in the west and the other place ended up trying to sue them for not getting it restored in enough time....never really knew what happened with that...I may have to visit again sometime soon-- but the focus of the place is mainly jets...yuck!

They do have the Akagi scale model that was used in Tora Tora Tora there though.....

I believe he's asking about the Marauder (THE B-26!), not the Invader.

I dug out some links that may be useful. These are from my reference database; if I have time I'll try and search out some more stuff on the web as well as from my own references.

B-26 Marauder Historical Society - There's not much here for walkaround type'a photos. But lotsa interesting info, nonetheless.

B-26 Names & Numbers... - Again, no walkaround stuff, but ALOTTA links to nose art photos. Some images are kinda bad, but this is all great stuff.

B-26 Nose Art - This is a link to the gallery to which many of the links on the page above will lead.

B-26 During WWII Service - There's one decent shot of the interior on the first page; the rest are period shots of Marauders in action etc. This is part of the same site as the above two links, so if you grunge around you may find some more stuff. I have yet to fully explore the site myself.

B-26 Tailgunner - Again, no details here, really. Lotsa photos (not always the best quality) and info.

B-26 marauder.com - Yet another site without detail shots...

B-26 under restoration at the MAPS Museum

B-26.com - At First there seems to be no photos whatsoever on this site, but if you follow the links around you'll find a buncha stuff. Alas, no detail photos, AGAIN! LOL But this page is a valuable research tool as there are many links to other pages.

The CAF B-26 - Finally, there's some photos that may be of use to you, but they're freakin' tiny! Oh well...

French B-26G Restoration - AH! More decent photos of the interior etc. This is a pretty good site.

B-26 Videos - This page is part of the same site as the first few links above. Some cool stuff here, including some poor repros of the well-known Burdge Film.

Be sure to grunge around on these sites; even though many of them don't have walkaround type stuff there are lotsa links and you may find something useful.

Hi jbatesc6,

Here's an excellent B-26 reference page with nothing BUT walkaround pictures! Check it out! Wink [;)]

Good luck, and of course, we'd love to see your kit when it gets going!

Take care,

B-26 reference recomendations

My next project is going to be taking on revells beast of a B-26, Something I've wanted to do for years. I'm looking at compiling some references and the usual detail and scale or walk arounds are not available to my knowledge for the B-26. the Usual in action is out there of course but i've found these books generally come up pretty short in the way of good interior shots and barely worth it on my buget. There are allot of books on the Marauder- anybody have any good reccomendations? Or i guess it can't hurt to ask if anybody happened to have crawled around one with a digital camera recently?
