Well I only have up to 400 grit not 10000, don't know where or when I will be able to get that high number of sandpaper. I hope I can get it soon. As I need this for the USMC group build. I tried to polish it with my Dremel tool and dug in too far. So I will have to live with it. Maybe I can figure something else out. I do have another Hornet but I need that canopy for my other build. Maybe I can try the stuff from Squadron and make a new one.

A suggestion I have for when you do your sanding and polishing is to pack the back side of the canopy with modeling clay so that the pressure from trying to hold the piece doesn't break it. I learned that the hard way when the canopy broke in two. It was really shiny thoughBig Smile [:D]

Sentry, Ive been using metal polish myself. Theres a brand here called "Glo" and it really works well for clear plastic parts. After the sanding it may take some time rubbing the polish on with a soft cloth but after a while the canopies really clear up.

I have heard the same thing suggested before in FSM. I forget the issue, but you basicly start by sanding down the ridge and then progressively use finer grits of sand paper. You probably want to end with a grit in the thousands... like 10,000 grit sand paper. Then you can polish and/or dip the canopy in Future and let it dry. Now that is all theory to me, I haven't tried it before. But I have a 1/48 Blue Angels kit that I hope to build someday and will probably have to contend with the same issue. Let us know how it works out. Good luck!

Sanding them down with fine wet & dry, then buffing with toothpaste or some car wax, then a dip in Future.

Disapprove [V]I need some helpful advice. I have a pair of Hasegawa Special Release Hornets in 1/48 scale. There is a high seam on the top of one of the two canopies. How do I fix this when the time is right? Any helpful or thoughtful suggestions would be enormously appreciated. Thanks.
