Detail sets
Posted by tweety1 on Friday, January 16, 2004 9:15 AM
Hey all, just a quick question.

I'm after detail sets for both armour and aircraft.
Squadron was usually the place I looked, but there has to be more, and they must do mail order O/S.

I know there are alot, but some of the more hardcore modellers may have there're prefered vendors. Reliable and decent listings.

Any info would be a help.

Tried searching the net, but seriously, between work and raising a newborn, barely got time to sleep let alone modelling.

Many thanks in advanceBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Sleepy [|)]

Great Models is a very good mailorder house as well as Hannats. Check the links page on my site - look under the heading 'Internet Hobby Shop' listings for various alternative shops.

I'll second Swanny's reccomendation for Great Models. I do most of my business through them these days. They tend to have a bigger selection of detail sets than Squadron, from what I've seen. And, their prices are normally a little bit lower.

Another vote for greatmodels. They sometimes don't have what you want in stock but they will try to find it.

www.meteorprod.com

Meteor makes Cutting Edge brand detail sets for aircraft. They're the best!

Hey chas, could you make that 135 picture a little bigger so it takes even longerto load? Big Smile [:D]

tweety1, I can recommend "Michigan Discount Models". I have ordered Etched sets from them a few times and I usually have them in my hand within around 10 working days. The fastest turnaround I have had for an O/S order was "The Barrel Store" in Canada (5 working days from online order to my doorstep in Canberra). For decals, "Eaglestrike Productions" have been excellent also. From my experience these companies have been reliable and I order from them with confidence, which is important when you're so far away. They all have good websites, just type the names into your web browser and go shopping.

Cheers...Snowy.

tweety1 hiSmile [:)],
i can recommend www.hannants.co.uk as even if you are plannning to purchase closer to home, their website is by far the best organised that i've come across. i get most of my stuff from there, and i know for a fact that they ship loads of stuff overseas.
hope this helps,
nick
