The above's engine cowlings are tear drop shaped rather than cylindrical. Can something like that be easily retrofitted from a standard model, even if I could find a Canso nose replacement?

Hi ngc7293, those cowlings look round to me, it could be the angle of the shot tho.the intakes above the pods could come from the italeri DC3 kit. as for the nose the revell pby came with a nose very similar to this whn they did jacques ceusteau's aircraft, hard to find now tho but if you get stuck i will e-mail you a pic of the nose for you to copy it if you want. (i have got one of these in my scrap kit box). hope this helps.

Well, it looks like I am going to fudge the engines and just try to paint them right.

This aircraft has been modified with larger engines. Some 'Cats that were used as waterbombers were re-engined with Wright R-2600's instead of the normal P&W R-1830's. This upped the horsepower by over 30%.

Yea, I figured it was something like that. I just wish it were easier to build the "Always" plane.

The website shows a few other "Fire Eaters" and they are not as heavily modified; if at all. I keep thinking and rethinking the PBY, and it doesn't get built.
