Question about Tri-master He 162

Huma seem to working their way through many of the designs on the Luft 46 site, so you might get lucky with the Goppington Go9.

man, you know how to make a man toss and turn at night. as a matter of fact, i belive it did have a exposed engine on the box art. now to hood wink the wife into it. But the plane i want the ost is this one:

Just had a thought. Do you recall if that kit had all the extra engine detail? It would have been shown on the boxtop; a photo of the model with the engine cowling removed or open and the engine exposed. If it's that kit, then I wouldn't bat an eyelash at $50.

Trimaster had a couple versions of several of their kits, this being one of the more popular. Kinda the same idea as Eduard's Profipack line only no resin, usually. I think some of the vary late ones may have had resin. Anyhoo, they went for alot more than the standard kits, if I recall right. And $50 wouldn't be too awful bad for one of those.

BUT, (there's always a but...) if you're not into photo-etch it may be a daunting project. Most of the extra detail in these special kits was PE. And Trimaster's PE (as well as Dragon's) was/is steel, not brass. It's a pup to work with sometimes, especially if you've never worked with PE before. I dunno if you have or not, but that's just a heads-up for 'ya.

$50 is just shy of what those things went for when they were new.

Pix is right about the quality of the plastic, Trimaster used much nicer stuff than Dragon does and, also, the molds were new back then. With time various things can happen to molds, they'll distort slightly and lose fidelity of detail and such.

I'm not a huge fan of white metal so I personally prefer the Dragon kits overall, although I'll probably build the Trimaster 162 as well as the Dragon. It's a simple kit and I can see myself building several of them.

It's a toss up and only you can make the choice. If it were me, I'd grab it. But that's just me...

While I have not seen the He 162 kit, the differences in the Trimaster vs. DML Me 262 are worth the extra $$, in my opinion. The injected pieces are crisper, you get white metal, brass tube & wire parts, and the 262 has much more PE. The decals, unfortunately, are the same. The whites are a light cream color, but not yellowed. I would definately buy it, but that may just be me. I've seen DML/Dragon Me 262 kits lately, but I've opted for the Trimaster (I've now got 8 !) The Trimaster Me 262 kits are available from Great Models webstore for about $31.50 for the Nachjager, and $35 for the Jabo.
