Finescale.com Error
Posted by markuz226 on Sunday, January 18, 2004 7:50 PM
Whenever I go to www.finescale.com, I receive this error:
http://www.finescale.com/error.html?aspxerrorpath=/Default.aspx
Does anybody know why I'm getting this?

markuz226 I'm getting the same thing and have heard that there are others as well. I think it is just on their home page so if you come in on another page you should be ok...as you obviously figured out.

Well, it is the weekend, so there was probably a glitch and the webmaster is off chasing the webmistress, and of course, nothing resembling work will get done :-)

I'm sure they'll fix it in the morning...

Looks like they got it fixed. I guess MLK day ain't observed. Well we know FineScale isn't considered a public sector organization. Smile [:)]

Please pardon my knack for the obvious but the URL below is how to report probs with website.

And I just ordered Great Scale. Whew! I thought I was the only one affected. Glad to be back.

Just a temporary glitch--the kind that happens on weekends when none of us are around to notice it right away. I am told the site was down for part of Saturday, but our online tech folks are on top of it and working on some changes to the database to try to prevent that particular glitch from recurring.

At least it was on the weekend: Imagine what it would be like trying to get through the way at work without FineScale.com!!! [:0]

FYI

When updating a URL, the Webmaster/mistress must delete the old files on the Remote side (server side) of the FTP, then replace them with the updated files from the Local side (their system). While this transition is taking place, the URL is unavailable.

Or, it may be that the FSM, or some Downstream Server, is experiencing trouble, in which case, alternate paths will eventually correct the problem on its own..... just chill a little while and try again later. Wink [;)]

Saturday morning I tried to enter and the only thing I got was a page with the FSM logo on it and a statement to the effect "we're sorry, but the page you were looking for has an error on it or is not available". Was that way until this morning.

Think the only feeling that could compare would be to lose the tv remote for a couple of days..

I have the same problem. Had to go to FineScale.com to sign on. However, I could not sign on under my old user name and password. I had to select new all over again. What gives?

Your user ID and password should not have been affected. However, once a site starts malfunctioning, all sorts of odd things can happen, including some users being able to get in periodically. If a site you've been visiting regularly suddenly malfunctions--and you haven't made any recent changes in your system AND other sites still work fine for you--the problem is almost certainly in the site. Wait a while, come back, and if it's still not working, it doesn't hurt to send the websmaster a message.

I didn't realize how "addictive" this site has become! A day and a half without FSM Forum was miserable. Is it just that much fun or do I need to get another "life"!

Clear Left!

Ditto.. ran into the same problem the other day, went to google to pop up FSM and got to the site that way. Things seems to be back to normal today.
