Hooray! Pre-ordered mine from Great Models. I think they're getting their kits in sometime in Feb. Am looking forward to seeing what it looks like when it gets here.

There seemed to be a great deal of interest the first time Herr Field Marshal posted about this kit. Have been thinking that a 1/72nd B-17 GB to go with the 1/48th one might be a cool idea if someone wanted to tackle it???

I like the half bare metal, half camo scheme on the box cover. I would assume this is an option in the kit.

It would be kind of neat to see someone build the 1/144, 1/72, 1/48 and the soon to be released 1/32 B-17.

Looks good but needs a little more weathering ;) Doubt it looked that good after a couple missions.

Sounds like a nice kit.  But I just can't do 1/72 anymore.  I wish Revell would put out a 1/32 B17F.  They don't jack up the prices the way some other manufacturers do.  But it's like lately, they haven't even been trying to compete.  Just keep putting out the same old kits with different graphics on the Decals.

All I have to say is that my LHS got a dozen of these lil gems in today and I'm pickin mine up tomorrow :-) From what I can see, RG did a great job over all but there is a weird seam/panel line in the area of the bombardier section that incorporates the glass... That's just a minor detail.

I still can not believe that there is a PE set already in the pipe line and will be out shortly lol

So looking forward to having one of these!! Now I will be able to do my uncles ship from the 92ndBG

Surely you can't be serious. A new PE set for this kit and it (the B-17 kit)only hit the US markets this week?

I kid you not...!! When I talked to Ron who owns the LHS, he had just gotten off the phone with one of his ditributors and said that a PE set is in the works and should be out within a month..

And I said the same thing as you did to me.... Wow look how fast huh?

Eduard has gotten this thing down to a science...often, model companies will cooperate with AM companies becuause in the long run it is a win-win for both companies, so they give them acces to plans and test shots so the pipeling for these new AM products is much shorter than in the past...

Yes they do. They have a 1/48 PV-1 Ventura due out soon, RG just released a 1/32 Arado AR-196, and a 1/32 He-111 is due out this year as well. I would hardly call that not competing. And I am glad they are re popping the older kits because that guts the gougers on Ebay.

I have one in the mail.  Big Smile  I would be interesting in a GB if one is decided so that noone else can have the ugliest build of the group!  Also, I am interested in what photo etch is going to be available.

I like "Windy City" and "Gee Whiz" on that sheet---I think these are ficticious planes used in the movie "Memphis Belle"...here's a couple more sheets of actual a/c, including "Mount 'N Ride"...

Owl,,,   you got the kit for $26.00,   correct?

I was just telling one of my local modelers about the kit and that it looked pretty nice....  if I tell him it is less than $30.00 he will jump all over it!

Enjoy the ride!
