Production Line Moves Along
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 11:16 PM
Well, its been a lot of work so far on my "production line. With the exception of the Ta 152, these kits were started & built together. The Ta 152 had to play "catch-up." I thought I'd post some pics as I begin the camo painting, just in case anyone thought I gave up on my idea.

This is the 1/48 Hasegawa Ju 87G-2, with the Eduard PE set. The PE really added a lot to this kit.

This one is the 1/48 Trimaster Me 262A-1a, straight from the box. I've got a very different Eagle Cals sheet for this bird. I can't wait to finish it !

Next is the 1/48 DML Ta 152H-1, also with an Eduard PE set. This detail set makes a big difference in the wheel wells.

Last is a 1/48 Dragon FW 190A-8. I used a disappointing Eduard PE set on this one. At least it gave me the instrument panels, rudder pedals & belts.

Thanks for letting me share my progress with you !

Great Pix, I can't wait to see them done, they have certainly come a long way from the "front office" pix you had posted earlier. I was just looking at the gallery on that other thread (can't remember which one right now) thank you for sharing your progress.

WOW Very good stuff Pix, Cant wait to see them when they're finished.

How is the Dragon FW190A/8?

I have the Academy in 72nd.....Im wanting to do a bigger version though as the cockpit on the 72nd one was a joke!

Thanks, AJACKETSFAN, Dave Toews, kik36, dj, obi, KJ200, nick, Jeeves, & Chris !

This has been an enjoyable project. Had I used 4 Hasegawa kits & no PE, I'd probably be done by now ! As is, it'll probably be another week, maybe two. The camo for the Ju 87 & Me 262 will be more involved (labor-intensive) than the Ta 152 & FW 190, each requiring more painting after I've decalled. I don't want to "give away" the markings on those two yet. The camo will be finished in a couple of days. The Ju 87 will receive its top camo today, with the others to follow tomorrow.

Chris - the Dragon FW 190 has some real fit problems where the wings meet the cowl. If you want to build one, I can tell you how to avoid the headaches. I much prefer the detail on the Dragon kit to the Tamiya, but its not an easy build.

Thanks again, and I'm glad you like 'em !

Looking great, as always, Pix!
How are you liking the production-line style of building? Not gluing parts on the wrong aircraft, are ya?

Sounds like a good idea. I may just try it with my BMP-1 and BMP-2!

Thanks Pix

I'll have to keep my eyes open for one. I only have one Dragon kit so far and I must say while I havent built it the detail impressed me....Im having some serious issues with masking on the 72nd one but thats for another thread/post....lol

Thanks, J-Hulk ! My theory behind the "production line" is one born of laziness. I'm building by color (all cockpits are same color, landing gear & gear bays are same color, camo colors similar). I got this idea because I dislike mixing paint, loading & cleaning the airbrush just to paint the cockpit color on the canopy's frames. Next time, I won't include a "greenhouse" like the Ju 87 ! I spent an entire day masking all the canopies !

Nice, clean builds, Pix. I wish I could build kits in a production line. It would give me plenty of room for more kit boxes. LOL. Great work, Pix!

Hey Pix, on the Stuka, is the hydraulic tubing on the cannons part of the Eduard set, kit set or scratch built? Either way it looks great.

Thanks, allan, Swanny, & Frank !

Swanny - the lines , along with the cannon mounts & all the control surface linkages, are PE. Its definately the finest Eduard set I've ever used.

If anyone wants to build this kit, and has PE experience (there are 100+ parts), I highly recommend using this set. It takes a beautifully molded kit (with the exception of the wingtips) one step further.

Jeeves - greenhouses can sure be a pain sometimes, can't they ?

Thanks again !

Exactly which Eduard set are you using? I have this kit with a resin cockpit and engine and interior guns that I was going to do fully open and I think the set you are using would compliment it nicely.
