Desert A-10
Posted by CallSignOWL on Saturday, April 2, 2011 3:34 PM

This is Monogram's 1/72 scale warthog kit I finished up in a fictional desert paint scheme. The camo is hand painted and based on the experimental "peanut scheme" from the first Gulf war. It was never implemented for combat, but I like colorful aircraft. So this is "what If" a desert scheme was applied to the Warthogs.

As always, questions, comments and concerns are welcome!

As stated earlier, looks terrific Owl.  Just one question, it looks like the intake turbine on the port engine is dark and on the starboard white, perhaps just a shadow?

Cool scheme, owl! Nothing wrong with what-if's. That's a top-quality build! Yes

No, they are the same color. The beam of sunlight I took these in made darker shadows on some areas depending how I angled the model. Smile

That's very well done, Owl. Operational A-10's just don't have a wide variety of camo schemes. You build a lizard one, then a ghost grey one, and you're pretty much done. Yours looks right at home for Desert Storm.

Love it!   I saw that paint scheme online somewhere and was debating using it on my A-10.  She's a few kits down on the list though, so we'll see.  Nice job!
