Trumpeter 1/32 scale F4U-1D Corsair
Posted by R Fluhr on Friday, May 13, 2011 9:12 AM

This is my 1/32 scale F4U-1D Corsair from Trumpeter it's out of the box except for the after market wheels and scratch built bomb rack . I found a picture in the Squadron F4U Corsair in Action book of the bomb rack that the hand built in the field for the Corsair.

Came out great...is the front checker a decal or did you paint it? Either way you did the old war bird some justice.

Corsair looks great, my absolute favorite aircraft.  I've got 2 1/32 F4U-1D's and a F4U -4 waiting to be built.

Where did you get the aftermarket wheels & what brand are they? I was thinking I would have to cast my own until you mentioned they were aftermarket.

Did you get some Dullcoat on the canopy and windscreen?  Operational aircraft didn't have crystal-clear canopies, but they weren't quite that dirty either... Unless that's representing the fogging from condensation of the early morning dew on Vella LaVella or something....

Overall though, nice Corsair...

I was afraid of commenting because I don't want to be misinterpreted, but I had the same observation as Hans as soon as I saw the pictures. Love the build, but for my taste, the windshield is too foggy unless that's what you wanted to convey. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comments guys I got the wheels from Lone Star Models (LSM 30191 F4U diamond pattern)

they are only $8.00. I don't know what happened to the canopy it has just fogged up over the years.
