Darn! Know what it is, know what country it's from, and am even pretty sure who the manufacturer is. But do you think I can remember the nomenclature or name for it?
Not on your life (it's like watching a game show on tv, the answer is on the tip of my tongue but can't spit it out).
Will get back to you after some research.

It seems to have had some kind of a tail wheel malfunction. Maybe the giant rubber bands are on there to keep it from completely coming apart. Or, maybe the glue just hasn't set yet. I prefer to paint after assembly myself.

Are there rubber bands in the cowlings, too?

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

Don't feel bad Adam, you're not alone! So far, this one is the closest to a stumper that there's been here on FSM. hehe...

For me that's the fun of this kinda stuff, if I'm trying to figure out what something is I usually come across a whole lotta other stuff which, related or not, proves to be very interesting or useful.

I generally look stuff up on the net first because it's easier than dragging out a ton of books and rags or going through the files, and half of what I've found on the net I've found quite by accident while looking for something else. It's amazing what's out there...

Hey, I see we're up to 5 correct now. The stumper tag is starting to fall off at this point I think. I can't wait for the answer myself, I'm anxious.

Okay, I'll end the suspense...

As you can see, there were nineteen responses with five being correct. The five:

eagle334
Ashley
salbando
djmodels1999
Dai Jones

The answer?

Tachikawa Ki-54 Hickory

This particular aircraft was evaluated by an allied Technical Air Intelligence Unit (TAIU) at the end of the war. For more info on these units, go HERE.

My good pal Eagle334 has asked if he can MC the next quiz, so he'll be hosting this coming week's festivities....
