Luftwaffe colors

I have a Taymia Bf-109e trop. It has the camo scheme where you have the sand color with green dots on it. The instructions say to mix "XF-59" and "XF-64" for the sand. What is the RLM color that matches this?

German Sandgelb is RLM 79.

And the green would most likely be RLM 80 Olivegrun.

Middle to late German Med Luftwaffe colors were RLM 78,79,80. RML 78 is a deep light blue. Very early German aircrafts sported ad hoc coloring.

to save all that mixing and ratios, why not try Polly Scale acrylics? they make all the axis and allied colours, helpfully labelling them by the RLM designations etc.

I just built that same kit not too long ago, and I used Model Master enamels. and hungfarlow is right on, RLM 78,79, and 80.

I'm curious, are you planning on soft edges? That's what I did, but I do not posess the skill (at the moment) to do it freehand. So, I copied the sheet in the kit, and made masks by cutting out the mottling, and then used small strips of tape to keep the paper off of the surface. It worked pretty good, but it is slow going. half a wing at a time, and so on.

Good luck with the model - and please keep us up to date on how it's going.

I assume he is asking for the RLM numbers so he can get ready made paints instead of mixing them. By all means get the Polly Scale paints. They are excellent.
