Washing raised panel lines? How? I'm finishing up the ancient P-38 from Monogram kit for a group build and that technique could prove very useful. Where's swanny?

Thanks for all the input.

I'm working on that kit myself and just finished scribing the panels, gotta get my eyes uncrossed before I go to work tomorrow. I was going to ask the same question about the cockpit myself. Funny thing about the pearl group build is I'm already doing one for a Pearl survivor at church. Doing the P-40, a PBY, and a Zero for him. Started it the day the group build was announced. lol

Joe, let me know what you find out if you please... I think I'm just gonna do that kit for the Pearl build. It's been in the "to build" pile for a while because of the raised panel lines. I don't think I'm quite ready to totally rescribe an a/c yet. I saw that Swanny is gonna do an article that shows how to wash raised detail though so that should help a bunch.

Cutting Edge has a cockpit set that is designated for the Monogram P-40B kit. Their part number is 48067 (might make your web searches a little easier).

I've used their stuff before and have been pretty happy with it.

P-40 cockpit

I'm about ready to build the old Monogram P-40 B 1/48th. I'm told its the most accurate profilewise, but the cockpit looks terrible OOB. Does anyone make a resin aftermarket (ie. Black bot, true details) cockpit for this kit. True Details makes one but I not sure if it will work in the Monogram kit. I would hate to spend the money on it only to find it un-compatible.

Please advise,
Joe
