As I understand it, that's the Hobbycraft kit re-released by Monogram.

I built the 1/72 scale F-82 way back in 1975 and it was Monogram. It has always been Monogram. I don't know where you get the Hobbycraft connection. Modelcraft put out the 1/48 kit which was a "dog".

I read it on the 'net, where else? Big Smile [:D] Could be wrong however. What did you think of the kit when you built it? All the reviews I've read for F-82 kits indicate that regardless of manufacturer and scale, the kits have a ton of fit problems.

Drew,

Sorry, too much time since I built it to remember the fit problems on Monogram's 1/72
kit. I have always liked the F-82 and the only other kit was the three versions Modelcraft put out in 1/48th scale. When I saw my buddy's kit, it wasn't worth the money or the time and effort to me to make it into nice model. Monograms little 1/72 had better detail with the raised lines! People get Hobbycraft and Modelcraft mixed up when it comes to the F-82. Hopefully one day a "good" kit will be made of it.

Happy modeling!

My €.02:
In the late 70's, Monogram produced a 1/72 kit from which you could build an F-82E or F-82G. Its a good representation, but with raised panel lines and fairly thick transparencies. One problem is the exhausts, which sort-of resembling those on an F-82G night fighter. Otherwise the kit is accurate, and an easy build.
One of the Asian companies (Aoshima?) made a sloppy knock-off of the Monogram kit. I think this is the one reboxed by Hobbycraft.
Modelcraft produced 1/48 kits of the F-82B, F-82E and F-82G. All are difficult to build and not particularly accurate. Be warned, the night fighter F-82G, in particular, is a real screwed pooch. They can be built, as some of our more masochistic contributors have proven, but they take a real commitment (and a pile of references). Eduards makes a nice PE detail set, but with next-to-nothing to hang them on, they sit awaiting a fitting mount.

Where's my block of basswood and my whittlin' knife?

The Monogram builds up into a nice looking kit of the nightfighter. Fit isn't too bad for a kit that has been out almost 30 years. As for the raised panel lines, I can live with them. It also gives the option of opening the gun bay. The interior is rudimentary and the sliding canopies need some work but looks the part IMHO.

Hey check out www.squadron.com they have a couple made by modelcraft in 1/48.....perhaps it's the same that Phil is talking about, but in my catalog it's listed as Modelcraft. Part numbers: MX48021 for the F-82E, and MX48022 for the F-82G. Just type those PN's in the search box on the website. They're listed in the book for $21.97, but I didn't check availability.....hope that helps!!! Good luck!!!

sorry to be late in the game;
I've built both companies F-82's and the Revellograms is still the best hands down even though it's in a smaller scale, I hope that Revellogram comes out with one in 48th scale just for spite or maybe Hasegawa will do it they've came out with some interesting kits in the past maybe they'll do this one, as for Modelcraft I think they are a subsitary of 3M because you need about 3 or 4 assortment packs of sand paper just to get their kit to be right and maybe 2 tubes of Squadrons white or green putty or 3 bottles of gap filler super glue and a doctorite degree in sculpturing or just have Michael Angleao's touch of sculpturing
