After the assembly was done I polished the surfaces as well as I could with a buffing pad, then airbrushed Tamiya Aluminum acrylic without primer, finished with a coat of Future.

bsyamato - agreed, the Ki61 is actually a very nice looking plane. There's a story to this one! I received a similar kit as a gift years ago. Tried the mottle-over-silver camo by laying down green first, masking it, then hitting it with silver. What a mess! The only time I actually threw a kit across the room! So this is one I had to try again, and try my hand at the splotches.

Gamera - the figures are from a Hasegawa set that I've been holding onto for years. I just recently decided to crack them open & use them in pics, maybe a diorama to better show scale. I'll admit it - I'm afraid of figures!!

Tigerman - No worries about the Field Marshall here - he occasionally needs to kick my keister as a reminder that I volunteered to scratchbuild that flying wing. I think I've taken a proper berateh now & can get back into that one!

Navigator - that is Academy's A6M5c / Type 52c. I had never seen one with a ground-attack loadout either, or was this setup kind of a bomber-destroyer deal?? I'm not privy to much IJN / IJA info, I just know what I like!

Great looking planes Vance, I especially like the Tony. What version is the Zero? I'm not used to seeing one with big cannons and bombs.

I don't care how much Manny mocks you, but put out some very nice builds. That Ki-61 is awesome. I would love to replicate that in 1/48 if I could. The weathering on that first Zero is superb.

the more i like between is the ki-61 but the best finished seems the academy zero

ahhh - the pusher-engined one. Haven't come across one of those, it is interesting enough for me to pick up. I've got a D4Y2 "Judy" somewhere in the archive box from wayyy back (I think!! ). I'll have to dig that out & compare it to the newer builds.

Very nice Vance! I love the Tony. I have that one in my stash, and it is the only 1/72 Japanese kit I have, so I look forward to building it. If it comes out half as good as your's I will be "golden"
