Anyone built the Academy Hawker Hunter? I've been looking for good reviews on a Hunter but have been failed by the internet! I've been interested in the Hunter for a very long time, just like the EE Lightning. The British made great aircraft in their heyday. Any insight would be great.

I'd be interested to hear as well. The Revell Hunter is very highly regarded too.
...no...
Here's a review on each of the Academy 1/48 kits from Modeling Madness

In the reviews I read, it sees to be a nice kit, just a pitty they have a 1/72 bangseat in the 1/48 kit
This is what is keeping me away from it, but i am sure someone does AM seats for it

Well, I'm confident, somewhat, that I wouldn't get too upset with the gaps and throw the kit in the trash, but does anyone know of any aftermarket parts for the Academy kit?

Any difference between the Academy and Italeri 1:48 kits? One youtube vid guy says Italeri is probabaly re-pack.
Also for the Revell 1:32 scale, I read is a good kit. Thinking maybe to big though... any one know the size (length & wing span)?
Currently working on: Dragon 1/35 Tiger I, Initial Production s.Pz.Abt.502
The Revell 1/32 kit is a GEM! A big gem, but still probably one of the best aircraft models that I have EVER built. Size wise it is bigger than a 1/48 twin engine bomber, but smaller than a four engined type.
I am willing to bet cash that the Italeri 1/48 Hunter is noting more than the Academy kit in a new box at a higher price.
italeri reboxed the academy kit.
tamiya 1/48 P-47D $25 + shipping
tamiya 1/48 mosquito $20+ shipping
hobby boss 1/48 F-105G. wings and fuselage cut from sprue. $40+ shipping.
stikpusher,
That is BIG! looks good, though I don't know where I would display it... maybe hang it. I was looking on eBay and found some listing but lol the shipping cost (still considering it). Thanks for the pic.
randypandy831,
Thanks. I see the l:48 Academy is cheaper than the Italeri ... so both are the same but I Italeri has alt decals. It would make sense to pick up cheaper if it's modeled as RAF anyway.
Sorry I have another Question now... any visual difference between the F6 and FGA9?
I will want to model a hunter prior to 1967 the FGA9's are late 60's (like 1969) is that correct?
Update: I just realized that maybe it dose not matter as the Italeri which is a re-box of the Academy is marked as 6/9 so it can be modeled either version. I think the 9 just had more armament.
I built the 1/48th Academy kit probably 15-20 years ago and don't remember any major issues. I messed up the canopy and didn't finish the kit but that was my fault.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh krap, I should'd checked the date myself!!!!!!
Sorry to go off topic guys, but I have an old build that I cant identify. A Hawker Hunter with displayable engine (the fuselage pulls apart to display) and it comes with a flight stand the base of which is a half globe of the world. Nichimo ? For the life of me I cant remember the maker.

Yes, Nichimo did a 1/48 Hunter, as did Lindberg. They may be one in the same.
