USAF Tail Codes
Posted by Bones-coa on Friday, January 30, 2004 2:06 PM
Modelers, how does one go about looking up tail codes on aircraft? At the local ANG and airport, I've noticed at least two dozen or more F-15s landing in the past few days. All have the tail code "FF". I was curious as to what fighter group they are from.

Thanks.

Interesting. Well, this is south Georgia.

One other thing I found interesting. Apparently it is common practice to overfly the airfield in formation and then break away from formation one at a time to land. Yesterday while standing outside, I saw a pair doing just that to land. However, the lead was an F-15 and the wingman was an F-16. After they landed, another pair flew over to land. This time reversed. The F-16 was the lead of an F-15.

BTW, how did you find the tail code info? Or did you just know it?
