TAC Fin Decals
Posted by Silverbird01 on Monday, March 10, 2003 7:59 PM
Anyone know where I can get a decal sheet with various sizes of TAC emblems with the yellow with red trim lightning bolts as used on the vertical fins of early 60's F-100's,F-101's,F-105's ect....? I can't seem to locate any sheets like this. I like doing Century series aircraft in TAC and ADC from 1960 until the application of camoflage. Many of these aircraft sported this style of insignia on the fins. I need quite a few of them!!

ThanksBig Smile [:D]

I think Stupidscale Tongue [:P] (formerly Microscale) used to make a few sheets with emblems, including TAC badges. I may still have some, though I think I unloaded them some time back. I'll look and get back. Shy [8)]

Otherwise, a model show may be your only bet for these, they don't make them anymore as far as I know. Maybe someone out there knows of recently-printed sheets that fit the bill? Question [?]

It was Microscale that made the sheet. It came out in the early or mid 80's. It had TAC, USAFE, PACAF, and unit tail letters. If I remember the letters were all in white. It didn't stay on the market long because the blue color was incorrect on the patches. They were going to release unit patches as a follow up but never did. It was released in 1/72 and 1/48 scale. I know I still have some of the TAC patches left.

I found the decals. I have two TAC and 1 ADC decal patches. They are the large type found on non camaflaged aircraft. The only other ones I have are the smaller type found on camaflaged versions.
