what do you use for painting stands? have glued toothpicks to underside, have tried using hangers bent to shape. maybe i am doing it wrong but niether has made a good impression on me.

Frank, I think he's refering to stands for when you are painting the model.....I'm in the same boat you are Joe, I haven't been impressed with any of those ways either....unfortunately I don't have the answer to your question, but I'm glad you posted it so I can get it answered too!!! For cars though, I use a cheap butter dish that seems to fit perfectly inside of the body.....Of course now I'm short a butter dish in the fridge!!!Tongue [:P]

for cars the bent hanger seems to work the best. wait did i say i do autos?Oops [oops]

For 1/48 prop aircraft that have a hole in the fuselage for a shaft, I insert an old round needle file, slowly twisting until its secure. I move both the plane & the airbrush while painting. I then insert the file's handle into the base of an old swing arm lamp. It works pretty well.

For jets you can find a wood dowel or something similar and wrap tape around it until it's big enough to fit tightly in an engine exhaust and then hold that while you paint it.
