1/48 Academy Bf 109 Bouchon

Great work Reasoned i see the movie when was a child and probably one of main motivation about my great interest in planes

Yes, "Battle of Britan" is an absolute must for any WWII aviation buff.  The dialogue, scenery, flight scenes and story are terrific.  Galland was an advisor I know and it is interesting reading about what he said was not the case in the movie.  But hey, that's show biz.  The biggest eye sore was using the 109 Bouchon in place of the real Emil 109 but they didn't have much choice, CGI was still half a century away!  Still, the shot those scenes with a handful of Spits, Bouchons and He-111's (also with Merlin's) so with what they had...........

The movie is called Battle of Britain. It was made in 1969 and is an absolute visual feast for warbird lovers. look in the usual places to watch it- DVD, Blue Ray, Netflix... I read the novle A Piece of Cake years ago, then finally saw the mini series more recently. As usual, the book is far better. But the BBC series made a decent attempt.

   One of my favorite flicks is called   "Piece of Cake"  about the BoB. It was a made for TV mini series that aired on The BBC.  I dont know if it ever made its way here to the States but I know it can be picked up on DVD. Some great shots of Spits and 109's   I actually got to see alot of the filming as well as climb in a B-25 they used for the in flight filming.  If you do get to watch it... iin the opening scenes where theyre flying from an established airfield. That was filmed at RAF Little Rissington.  in the background you can see modern USAF generators against the old RAF hangers  I thought that was funny :)

It sat on the ground, unassigned toa unit,  a long time in the 90s.. Not because there was anything wrong with it though... Just that none of the rated fighter pilots in the CAF could fit in it...

Well I'll be dipped in it!   So that's where the idea to use JG/27 Gruppe badge came from in the decal set, they must have seen that plane and included it in the offering as opposed to the one in Stik's pictures from the BoB movie.

I thought so to. I just lifted the web shots, the captions are not mine Just looking at that image and the Luftwaffe theme from the movie plays in my mind...

Thanks Stik, agreed, it's a great flick and had the DVD in a lot to refer to.  I believe the above "yellow" Gruppe was Maj. Falke's, Froehn's was the "red" Gruppe.

Nice job! I think the decals turned out pretty good..Better join the 109 group build if you haven't!

Did you add a back-rest to the seat or leave it?

 

Left it, figured the canopy being closed would cover that but I did end up losing the head shield armor piece.  It was a clear part that just disappeared.  It is a fun little kit.

Thanks, it's funny but this kit didn't have the BoB decals so I had to "steal" the Geschwader emblem, yellow 5 and swastikas  from other kits.  Plus the faux cowl machine guns were included in this kit but since it was supposed to be done as the Spanish Ha-1112, they were not identified so I found them looking through the spru tree.  The same can be said for several other features only seen on the BoB plane not the Spanish.  It tells me that this could be a repackage of the Hobbycraft kit.

I think it looks good. Right out of the Battle of Brit movie.
